NATO and the Middle East

Abstract:

This study examines the significance of NATO’s interest in building relations with the Middle East by expanding its activities to include both official and unofficial arrangements with Arab countries. It also highlights Europe’s increasing strategic strength, and its growing economic and military role within NATO and sheds light on the effects of these shifts on Arab options in the 1980s.
