B3. ADDAMEER, LETTER TO UN SECY.- GEN. BAN KI-MOON CALLING ON THE UN TO END ITS G4S CONTRACTS, 16 APRIL 2015

On 16 April, six Palestinian nongovernmental organizations addressed a joint letter to UN Secy.-Gen. Ban Ki-moon calling on the UN to end all contracts with the private security company, G4S. G4S provides and maintains security systems in Israel and at a prison in a West Bank settlement, where Palestinian prisoners from the West Bank and Gaza are detained in contravention of international law. The groups argue that G4S is complicit in Israel’s violations of international law since the company maintains the detention facilities, and urge the UN to cancel its contracts/cut its ties with the firm.
