The History of the Palestinians and their National Movement

Our book aspires to be utilized as a scholastic book dedicated for study at a university level. The book builds upon previous studies and provides a critical look at them and is not intended as a research book based on primary resources. The book’s distinctive feature lies in that its research field covers our present era. In preparing the book, we sought utmost objectivity. Our main interest was to put the Palestinian people, along with the various political, social and economic aspects of its life, at the center of our historical narrative. Our success demanded that we include also the Palestinian national movement and its struggle against Zionism and colonialism. Consequently, if the socio- economic approach held the upper hand in discussing the Ottoman’s era, it was the political approach that prevailed while tackling the history of Palestine since the early beginnings of the British Occupation up to our present time. This was especially true after the absence of the socio- economic formation of Palestine under the Mandate, because of Nakba, which led to the dispersion of the Palestinian people between its homeland and the Diasporas, and its breakup into diverse gatherings.
