Whither the “Children of the Stone”? An Entire Life under Occupation

The storied generation of the shabab who brought global attention to Palestine through their unparalleled activism during the first intifada are now adults – and nothing they fought for has come to pass. Dr. Brian K. Barber examines the lives and well-being of this first generation of Palestinians to have lived their entire lives under occupation. His presentation examines how occupation has not only shaped their lives historically and presently but also their own assessment of their current conditions and future prospects. He cites findings from his 25-year longitudinal and ongoing study of 1,800 men and women from the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip, published in the most recent edition of the Journal of Palestine Studies.
