ABSTRACT

The Camp David formula for Middle East peace that began with Egyptian President Sadat's trip to Israel in late 1977 did not bring an end to bloodshed in the Middle East, but rather intensified it. US Congressman Paul Findley (Republican, Illinois), who has made numerous trips to the Middle East and has worked for the establishment of direct talks between the US government and the PLO,' spoke to the US House of Representatives on the human dimension of Middle East violence since Sadat's peace initiative. His speech, and the list he provided of Arab men, women and children killed by Israeli raids, bombing or shelling, have been taken from the Congressional Record, February 13, 1980.
